Herdís Anna Jónasdóttir studied singing at the Iceland University of the Arts and the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin where she graduated with a diploma in 2010 and finished her Konzertexamen in 2013. She was hired at the International Opera Studio in Zürich for one year, and then got a position as a soloist at the State Theatre in Saarbrücken, Germany.
Herdís Anna has taken part in many opera productions in Iceland, Germany and Switzerland. Her operatic roles include Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Adele (Die Fledermaus), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Queen of Schemacha (The Golden Cockerel), Maria (West Side Story), Eliza (My Fair Lady), Nannetta (Falstaff) and Oscar (Un Ballo in maschera).
She has given solo recitals in Iceland and in Germany and also been very active on the concert stage, performing with e.g. The Reykjavik Chamber Orchestra, The Saarland State Orchestra, Canberra Symphony Orchestra, The Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, at the Carl Orff Festival and more. Herdís has twice sung with the Icelandic Opera, in 2012 Musetta in La Boheme, and just recently the role of Violetta Valéry in Verdi’s La traviata.
