Sigridur Osk Kristjansdottir<\/p><\/div>\n

Mezzo-soprano Sigridur Osk attended\u00a0 the Royal College of Music \u00a0Opera School as a postgraduate student and\u00a0 graduated \u00a0with an Artist Diploma and a Masters degree with merit. \u00a0Her singing teacher was Russell Smythe. Previously, she\u00a0 had achieved a grade 8 in singing, studying with Rut Magnusson, and a piano teaching diploma from the Reykjav\u00edk College of Music. Her current teacher is Sigridur Ella Magnusdottir.<\/p>\n

Sigridur\u00a0 appears \u00a0frequently \u00a0in operas,\u00a0 oratorios and as a recitalist in Iceland and abroad.\u00a0She recently sang the role of Waltraute in Wagner\u00b4s Ride of the Valkyries<\/em> with Lidal North at the Norwegian Opera House.\u00a0 She sang\u00a0in the English National Opera\u2018s staging of\u00a0 Jakob Lenz<\/em> by Wolfgang Rihm and at Glyndebourne, she performed the role of Fifth Nun in the first performance of\u00a0 Love and\u00a0 Other Demons \u00a0<\/em>by Peter O\u00f6tv\u00f6s, conducted\u00a0 by Vladimir\u00a0 Yorvosky, as well as the Sandman in Humperdinck\u2018s Hansel and Gretel<\/em>.\u2028\u2028She appeared in Insanity<\/em> with the progressive Kiez Oper company \u00a0in Berlin and has frequently appeared in London with The Classical Opera Company, including the role of Arbate in Mitridate<\/em> which earned her high praise in a review in The Times newspaper. \u00a0She performed Haydn\u2018s cantata Arianna a Naxos<\/em> for them with the fortepianist Gary Cooper in Kings Place, London and sang on their behalf in In Tune in a live broadcast on BBC Radio 3.<\/p>\n

With English Touring Opera she\u00a0 sang the role of Arkane in the opera Teseo <\/em>by Handel. Sigridur has appeared in many of the best known concert venues \u00a0in London, such as the Royal Albert Hall and St. Martin-in-the-Fields. In the Cadogan Hall \u00a0she sang a concert with Dame Emma Kirkby which was broadcast on Classic FM. Sigridur sang in a recording of Engel Lund\u00b4s Book of Folk Songs<\/em> with the Lieder Theater London, published by Nimbus Records. Sigr\u00ed\u00f0ur\u00b4s singing can be heard in the dance work Plateau Effect<\/em>, performed by The Cullberg Ballet, one of Sweden\u00b4s best known dance groups.<\/p>\n

For The Icelandic Opera, Sigridur has sung the role of Third Lady in Mozart\u2018s Magic Flute<\/em>. In Iceland\u00b4s \u00a0modern music festival \u00a0Dark Music Days, she sang the first performance of the Adriana Songs<\/em> by Kaiu Saariaho and with the Electra Ensemble performed Chansons Mad\u00e9casses <\/em>by Ravel, which was chosen as one of the five best performances in 2011 by the Icelandic National Radio\u00b4s arts programme Vidsja.<\/p>\n

With the Hallgrimskirkja Motet Choir she has sung in Bach\u00b4s St. John Passion<\/em> and will appear with them again this summer in Handel\u00b4s oratorio Solomon<\/em> as the Queen of Sheba and Second Lady. This autumn she will sing the role of Rosina in the Barber of Seville<\/em> for the Icelandic Opera.<\/p>\n
