She studied voice with Laura Sarti and Olof Kolbrun Hardardottir.<\/p>\n<p>Thora has performed at the Icelandic Opera, Malmo Opera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, English National Opera, Opera North, Opera Factory, in Mannheim, Nuremberg, Karlsruhe, Geneva, Lausanne, Basel, Berlin, Prague and Salzburg. Thora was a member of the ensemble at Hessische Staatstheater Wiesbaden from 2001-2008. Roles include Gilda (<em>Rigoletto<\/em>), Violetta (<em>La Traviata<\/em>), Mim\u00ed, (<em>La Boh\u00e8me<\/em>), Michaela, (<em>Carmen<\/em>), Adina (<em>L\u2019elisir d\u2019amore<\/em>) and Marie (<em>La fille du regiment<\/em>), Pamina (<em>Die Zauberfl\u00f6te<\/em>), Ilia (<em>Idomeneo<\/em>), Susanna (<em>Le nozze di Figaro<\/em>), Cleopatra (<em>Giulio Cesare<\/em>), Nannetta (<em>Falstaff<\/em>), \u00c4nnchen (<em>Der Freisch\u00fctz<\/em>), Gretel (<em>H\u00e4nsel und Gretel<\/em>),and Lucia (<em>The Rape of Lucretria<\/em>).<\/p>\n<p>Thora has performed in concerts with the Icelandic Symphony, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Bach Collegium M\u00fcnchen, <em>Rundfunk<\/em><em>&#8211;<em>Sinfonieorchester Berlin<\/em><\/em>, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, The Philharmonia Orchestra and in venues such as the Philharmonie am Gasteig in Munich, London\u2019s Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall and Barbican Center as well as the Kennedy Center in Washington and the Weil Recital Hall in New York. She has worked with conductors such as Sir Neville Marriner, Osmo V\u00e4nska, Lothar Zagrosek, Christipher Warren-Green, Sir Elgar Howarth, Pinchas Steinberg, Edward Gardner, Robin Stableton, Marc Piollet, Jonathan Darlington, Nicholas Kok, John Fiore and Paul Goodwin.<\/p>\n<p>Her wide recording experience includes a recent world premier recording of<\/p>\n<p>Offenbach\u2019s <em>Vert-Vert<\/em> for Opera Rara with the Philharmonia Orchestra conducted by David Parry. She has also recorded for Swedish record label \u201cBIS\u201d and for radio and CDs in her native country Iceland.<\/p>\n<p>Recent highlights include Mozart <em>Requiem<\/em>, Handel\u00b4s <em>Messiah<\/em> and Bach\u2019s <em>Christmas-Oratorio<\/em> with M\u00fcnchener Bach-Chor and Bach Collegium M\u00fcnchen conducted by Hansj\u00f6rg Albrecht, Beethoven\u00b4s <em>Mass in C<\/em> and Schubert\u00b4s <em>Mass in E<\/em> <em>flat major<\/em> with the Beethoven Orchestra in Bonn conducted by Stefan Blunier. Beethoven\u2019s 9<sup>th<\/sup> with Duisburger Philharmonikern and Ainars Rubikis and Bach\u2019s <em>Johannespassion<\/em> with Hordur Askelsson and the Motet Choir of Hallgrimskirkja, <em>Kullervo<\/em> by Sibelius with Petri Sakari and The Icelandic Symphony Orchestra, and Euridice in Gluck\u2019s <em>Orfeo<\/em> with Lothar Zagrosek and The Tonk\u00fcnstler- Orchester in Austria. At the Icelandic Opera she recently sang the roles of Gilda in <em>Rigoletto<\/em>, Pamina in the <em>Magic Flute<\/em>, Mimi in <em>La Boh\u00e8me<\/em> and most recently the title role of Gunnar Thordarsson\u2019s new opera <em>Ragnheidur<\/em> to a critical acclaim.<\/p>\n<p>Thora has received many awards and honours for her artistic presentations, including The Order of the Falcon, Knight from the President of Iceland and The Order of Dannebrog, Knight from the Queen of Denmark.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Born in Reykjavik, Iceland, soprano Thora Einarsdottir studied at London\u2019s Guildhall School of Music and Drama and the Reykjavik Academy of Singing.
