Halldór Eldjárn
Halldór Eldjárn is an Icelandic musician and a programmer. His music is a collision of the technological and the organic electronic worlds. Having played drums from an early age, Halldór started writing his own music with his electro-pop band Sykur which has been active for 11 years, releasing two critically acclaimed albums and traveled the world.
It was when Halldór began to studying computer science that he started combining music creation and and programming. Since then he has used his newly acquired skills to build a drum machine, robotic instruments including a self-playing harp and a few drum robots that can be controlled by a computer. Halldór is in an ongoing collaboration with Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds and worked on his latest release, creating a generative program for two self playing pianos that Ólafur uses on the album, and on stage on his live tour.
Halldór worked on building custom audio software for Björk for her 2019 “Cornucopia” tour. Halldór’s first album “Poco Apollo” is to be released late 2019. It consists of music generated by a custom computer program using images from the moon as an input, adapted for a string quartet, percussion and electronics.
