Kristin Bjork Kristjansdottir (Kira Kira)
Kira Kira is an electronic musician and a film maker with a background in experimental music and visual arts, constantly shifting shapes, breaking ground, disappearing and reappearing in unexpected places. She is known for never playing the same set twice, inviting and celebrating all the risks that come with opening the creative process up to a live audience. To her a concert is a moment in that process, shared with the audience as well as the different musicians she invites on board the space ship each time she plays live.
The Kira Kira world of sound is a dreamlike situation filled with warm waves of emotive melodies and unpredictable story lines, playful beats created through analog drum machines and live percussion with fine threads of Kira’s quiet voice running through it all like a ray of light.
Together with Johann Johannsson and Hilmar Jensson she is a founder of music collective Kitchen Motors and has 3 albums to her name, the most recent one being Feathermagnetik on Berlin based label Morr Music.
Autumn 2014 saw the release of a special edition amulet EP with LA based musician ESKMO featuring a live recording of a new Kira Kira piece performed by The Echo Society’s 15 piece orchestra in Los Angeles. Kira Kira and ESKMO are now working on a full length album together set to see the light of day in 2016.
